If you haven’t seen it yet, this is what iCal looks like in Lion:
What does that look like to you? A calendar? I barely notice the calendar. All I see is a torn piece of paper that must be removed.
If you want to do this, you’ll have to jigger with iCal’s resources. The file that will need switching out is CanvasTopTile.png. It lives in iCal.app/Contents/Resources. The operation is pretty basic but will require using the Terminal. First of all, download this file to your Downloads folder. Then fire up the terminal and type:
cd /Applications/iCal.app/Contents/Resources sudo mv CanvasTopTile.png CanvasTopTile.png.backup sudo mv ~/Downloads/CanvasTopTile.png .
Note that the first command will ask for your administrator password. Restart iCal and the torn paper will be gone:
If you’re some kind of sicko and you want to put the torn paper back again, here’s how you undo that change:
cd /Applications/iCal.app/Contents/Resources sudo mv CanvasTopTile.png.backup CanvasTopTile.png
