iTunes 7
September 15th, 2006
Let me say, first of all, that the gapless audio playback is extremely welcome. Only took 7 versions I guess, but at least it’s there now.
As for the new appearance, I guess it’s pretty neat; the plastic scrollbars are growing on me and the blue icon isn’t quite the eyesore it was when it first replaced the green one. It actually looks far better on Windows than on OS X in my opinion.
Automatic album artwork got me quite excited, and then I discovered I needed an iTunes account… for some legal reason I suppose. So I start filling out the form for an iTunes account when I realise that before I even want to buy anything from the store, I have to put in my credit card details. To me this means that to get automatic album artwork to work, I need to enter in my credit card details. No, thanks. I’ll just do it the way I’ve always done it; manually. Oh wait, that doesn’t work anymore.
That’s right, the little box that says ‘drag your album artwork here’ will kindly accept any image you choose to drop onto it, it just won’t do anything about it. Huh? I did manage to get it to work by clicking ‘Get Info’ and dragging the image into the little artwork box on that dialog so surely something is just ‘screwed up’.
This bug exists on both Windows and OS X versions.
